Hello and welcome

New Site Spam?Edit

Looks like the new site is getting hit with a lot of spam page creations?

I miss seeing the color coding in the columns from this wiki too.  It'd also be nice to have a column for info about Music Rights (all original, allowed to use music, suggest no music, etc...).

Also, I got Spry Fox to post on their website for my First Play of Road Not Taken :) - Enjoy!

That's all.Edit

Is this allowed? No clue. But what's done is done I guess.

Editing Approval Edit

Hi, is there any system by which legitimate users can request and gain approval to edit/update the Let's Play information? Thanks!

ice-pick lodge Edit

i've got ice-pick lodge approval to monetize

Phosphor Games Edit

For anyone that may be able to edit the Wiki, here is my contribution to the list:

Since I can't edit the wiki page. Here's a little update about square enix part.

Rockstar Games? GTA? Edit

Just one big one I'd think many people would need to see... Rockstar Games. A good few big titles, the Grand Theft Auto series being the obvious one. I will say I've done several GTA 4 gameplay videos, and am starting a GTA 5 series. All have been monetized, no problems yet. Obviously that doesn't mean anything conclusive, just thought I'd throw it out there. Also I think I read somewhere (also this isn't official, just a personal statement) that for GTA 5 there was the issue that they didn't care about free roaming gameplay such as online, or just running around the city, but they didn't want crucial storyline content in gameplay videos? I may be wrong about that, but either way it's a big one to look into for the list. Thanks for this awesome project btw, pretty dang useful!  -Derellium

Officially they are pretty okay with it, with obvious stipulations.

2K Games & EA Edit

Just an update for 2K Games - Strictly non-commerical (no youtube monetization)

EA - Fill out form and send it to them, they reply with terms and then you sign.

GameofKrakens (talk) 14:19, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

On the site of EA Germany. It says you can use (after permission) gamplay footage and monetize it on youtube, but without music or sound: . Aleawiki (talk) 20:39, February 27, 2014 (UTC)

Young Horses Edit

Young Horses, publisher of Octodad/Octodad: Dadliest Catch, give permission on their website via the "Contact Us" section to post let's plays/reviews and also give permission to monetize these. Their only request is that you put a link to their website or to the game on Steam in the video description.

Here is a link to their website.

"Young Horses, Inc. (also known as Young Horses) hereby grants permission for the use of in-game audio & video for “Let’s Play”, “Preview”, “Review” and/or “Commentary”-style videos on YouTube, including ad-supported channels/videos.

  • The creator of the video may use in-game audio & video for as many videos as desired. Specific permission is required for any soundtrack use outside of captured gameplay.

Please include one of, if not all, the following links in the description for the video:"

Gravitysensation Edit

Although not stated explicitly on their website, Gravitysensation (Goofball Goals/Sumotori Dreams/Tricky Truck) is fine with monetization. I would send an e-mail, just because it's not stated on their site, but the reply I got was super speedy! (Within half an hour)

Let's Play Monetization allowed - Mechanical Butterfly Studios Edit

Yes for videos/monetization. No conditions.

Statement found on the bottom:

Konami Edit

Konami does not allow monetization at all; as per following email:

We believe we have resolved your issue. Please read below for your solution. If your issue is not resolved please submit a new ticket referencing your original ticket number.

Thank you for contacting Konami Customer Support. I apologize for the mail; we here in the video game division do not actually have a public one, so I have the feeling that you might have been writing a different department I'm afraid. Thank you for inquiring with us about this matter; these days it is all too easy for videographers to forget or perhaps not fully understand the myriad of complexities surrounding video copyright law. I can certainly empathize how frustrating it can be, as I do it myself (for non-work things).

The truth is, we do allow it as long as a few criteria are met. The most important one of these is that you in no way make any sort of money from the videos themselves. That includes advertising such as AdSense, which unfortunately is the reason most folks inquire with us about it. There are some other criteria, the next most important being that the video is instructional in nature. In this manner a tutorial, walkthrough, or even just a Let's Play might theoretically all be considered to fall under this. But the mainissue Konami is concerned about is that, if you wish to use our footage in whole or in part, then I'm afraid you may not monetize the use of that clip in any way.

Please be aware that Konami's policy on this matter extends to everything they own, including games from the old 8 bit NES days in the 1980s. So all the entries in the Suikoden franchise definitely fall under the policy.

We appreciate you contacting us in this matter. As long as you do not ever make any sort of profit from those videos that contain Konami material, then you would be allowed to. As this might well defeat the point of your video in the first place, however, I can certainly empathize but I'm not allowed to give permission. Take care, and good gaming to you,

Croteam answer

Any idea regarding Bit Blot's Aquaria?Edit

I couldn't find any links to any permissions. Seeing as the game was made in 2007, long before the term Let's Play became prevalent, that's to be expected.

So if anyone has any Twitter link or something on the matter, that'd be super-helpful. Thanks.

Edit: I just tried sending them an email and got a "550 Relay not permitted!" error. Sending a tweet now.

Kickbomb EntertainmentEdit

Kickbomb Entertainment allows let's plays with monetization. No conditions.

Bethesda Edit

Considerinng how huge Bethesda is right now with the hype of Fallout 4, I'm surprised this didn't make the list in any way. You are allowed to upload and monetize their games.

EA Policy update Edit

so i found this while searching through the Help desk on EA. thought it would be useful info for the wiki.

EA Policy on Lets plays 08:07, January 28, 2016 (UTC)

What does "NO" mean? Edit

This is great but I feel it should be more clear what is meant by "NO."

If a publisher is not allowing people to monetize their games gameplay, will they also file takedown notices to non-monetized videos?

Skane-kun (talk) 22:00, February 10, 2016 (UTC)

Kalypso Media does allow LPsEdit

I'd liked to help update the site directly but I guess this must do. YES you can LP/stream ALL Kalypso Media Games (Tropico 5, Dungeons, Grand Ages: Medieval, Patrician, Port Royale etc.). It would be nice to hear from you, though. Just write us: and we will try to get back to you ASAP.

Kalypso-Guy (talk) 07:59, April 11, 2016 (UTC)

Indie Developers Edit

Just wanted to add the names of a few Indie developers to the list:

Dylan Loney, creator of "Words for Evil" has agreed to do let's plays

George Batchelor, creator of "Hot Date" has also agreed to do let's plays

Regarding CD Projekt RED!Edit

Apparently CD Projekt RED got tired of youtubers asking about their policy and they made a policy website ;).

here you go!

Retz Gaming Days Edit

Hello, I am Michael Ingram Owner of Retz Gaming Days, Video Games Company. I would like to add my company and it's games to the let's play friendly developer list. How do I go about doing this?

I will place my sites/information here:

Twitter: @RetzGamingDays

Google Play Developer Page:

I am happy for youtubers to monetise their videos and they can keep the revenue from their advertisements. At the moment, the games we have released are only on Android, however, this will be chaning in the future.

RetzRetro (talk) 15:27, December 6, 2018 (UTC)

Rake In Grass Edit

If someone with edit permissions could add them as per their Website.
